In the course Application Design we focused on the redesign of an app.
All you can eat
We looked for an existing ordering system of the Sushi Restaurant Yuoki in Stuttgart. It is a useful and attractive concept for an all-you-can-eat restaurant, but the understanding and appearance of the app must be redesigned.
To clarify the requirements regarding our project, it was crucial creating personas and use cases. Beside this, we also create user stories to describe the personal goals and desires, of the customers, to achieve a specific target. After the research, we concentrate on the elaboration. We started making a variety of analog and later digital wireframes. After this detailed research and comprehensive analysis, this application was revised using suitable methods.
Concept
During the analysis we also came to the conclusion, that it would be enjoyable for the visitors to use this application using their own mobile phones. Therefore we developed a order system which enables every visitor to choose between the tablet and the mobile version.
When you arrive in the restaurant every guest connects his phone with the tablet scanning the QR-Code. The user has the opportunity to order with his smartphone or use the tablet provided by the restaurant. It contains the basic information of the order process and an overview of the guests sitting on this table. After everyone is successfully connected, a short tutorial explains how to use the app. Now every guest can order food and add it to the common order summary on the tablet. In each round, five dishes per person can be ordered. If the order is completed, it can be entirely sent to the kitchen. There is an opportunity to see reviews of the dishes and to sort the dishes by different preferences or intolerances. With the sushi configurator, your own sushi can be created.
Whats new?
To enable the visitors more individuality we integrated an "sushi configurator" which makes it possible to create your own sushi.
Additionaly a rating system got integrated to help the visitors with their choice and to help the restaurant to analyse which dishes are the most popular.
